Ulm, 29 November 2019 – Sensor solutions provider HENSOLDT strives to facilitate the compatibility of family and career for its employees. Yesterday, a so-called "parent-child office" was opened at the company's site in Ulm's Weststadt district where parents can work in the immediate vicinity of their child.

"We want to offer our employees a lot of flexibility in the way they organize their work. This is the only way to combine family and career," says Peter Schlote, HENSOLDT's site manager in Ulm.

The initiator of the project, Tanja Kolb, adds: "Many times, it is not possible to find short-term support or to work from home. In this case, the parent-child office is ideal. There, the meeting can be held while the child is always in sight in the playroom. Our main concern is to create opportunities that can be used individually."

In the office located in the entrance area of the HENSOLDT plant, parents would also be able to work in emergencies, for example if childcare was cancelled and otherwise, they had to take time off. The office is divided into two rooms: one with two workstations and the necessary network connections. The other serves as a play and rest area and is equipped with toys, children's furniture and a changing table.

HENSOLDT's Ulm site employs around 2,000 people who develop and manufacture complex security electronics, including radars, electronic protection systems and high-frequency electronic components. The majority of the employees are engineers and technicians, about 180 young adults are in training.
