HENSOLDT AMPS

Airborne Missile Protection

Capabilities

Easy Installation

  • Lowest amount of equipment
  • Very low weight balance and power consumption
  • No interfaces to mission or avionic systems
  • Fully integrated CMDS (only one display/control unit for the whole system)
  • High reliability

High Performance MWS

  • High spatial resolution that discriminates between fixed and moving sources and accurate approach direction finding (imaging sensor)
  • Multi-threat handling (≤ 8 per system)
  • High probability of detection and lowest possible false alarm rate
  • Difficult to deceive
  • No emissions from the sensors (stealth)
  • No cooling, short activation time
  • No disturbance from IR light and laser
  • Low weight and power consumption
  • High degree of redundancy

Stand-Alone Missile Protection System

  • Completely independent system, no connection to a/c avionic or mission system required
  • AUTO, SEMI-automatic and manual modes
  • High-precision audio alarm messages (user definable)
  • NVG compatible system display

Description

The Airborne Missile Protection System is a flexible, stand-alone, off-the-shelf self-protection suite for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.

It is capable of combining different kinds of warning sensors, countermeasures and other avionic equipment in order to protect the platform and its crew against a variety of threats such as infrared, laser or radar guided missile threats.

AMPS´s modular design allows it to be easily adapted and configured to the specific operational needs and for different mission profiles. Our self-protection systems are in operational use on more than 700 military and VIP platforms for various customers worldwide.

Configurations

AMPS-M: : Integrates countermeasures dispenser system with 1 to 16 smart dispensers.

AMPS-MV: Integrates Missile Verification Sensors to confirm the presence of an approaching missile, including parameters such as distance and velocity. Depending on the operating mode, countermeasures are automatically initiated.

AMPS-ML: Integrates ALTAS-2Q(B), a passive Laser Warning System that is designed to detect, track and provide warning of hostile laser sources.

AMPS-MLR: Integrates Kalaetron RWR radar warning receiver.  Due to its fully digital design, the radar warner detects and identifies threats incredibly quickly and with a very low false alarm rate over an extremely wide frequency range.

AMPS-MD: Instead of flares as countermeasures, AMPS can be configured with Directed Infrared Counter Measures (DIRCM).

Features

  • Modular system architecture for individual operational needs
  • Combat proven system
  • Lowest amount of equipment
  • Easy installation / integration
  • Complete, stand-alone, self-protection system
  • No interfaces to mission or avionic systems required
  • Very low weight and power consumption
  • High reliability

Main benefits

Depending on each customer’s needs and their distinct operational requirements, different configurations of the AMPS self-protection system can be implemented by combining selected sub-systems to deliver a desired effect.

Sub-systems which could be integrated into AMPS are: Missile Warning System (MWS), Laser Warning System (LWS), Radar Warning System (RWS), Counter Measure Dispenser System (CMDS), Directed Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM), Inertial Attitude System (IAS) and Control and Display Unit (CDU) for system operation.
