Sensor specialist HENSOLDT has emphasised the importance of cooperation at state level for ongoing efforts to equip the German Armed Forces and its allies in NATO and the EU. During a visit by Minister President Winfried Kretschmann to HENSOLDT's Ulm site, CEO Oliver Dörre said: "Our main customers – above all the German Armed Forces – have an urgent need for high-performance defence systems. To meet this demand, we have invested in the expansion and development of additional production capacities at several sites in Baden-Württemberg and recruited additional staff. Here in Ulm, it is clear that we are developing key technologies that protect our country and our soldiers, not least with the support of the state government."

Minister President Kretschmann emphasises: "To defend peace, freedom and democracy in Europe, we need a strong defence industry. As a leading global innovation location, Baden-Württemberg has a special responsibility in this regard, with over 100 companies in the defence sector and around a fifth of all employees in the security and defence industry in Germany, with strong clusters of start-ups, SMEs and globally active companies. Companies such as HENSOLDT make an indispensable contribution to Europe's technological sovereignty and to strengthening the European security architecture."
During a tour of the HENSOLDT site, Kretschmann was impressed by the series production of air defence radars, which protect Ukraine against Russian attacks and play a key role in the European Skyshield initiative. The Minister President also gained an insight into HENSOLDT's contribution to the development of state-of-the-art reconnaissance technologies in the ‘Pegasus’ project and the equipment of the Eurofighter combat aircraft.
The HENSOLDT site in Ulm employs 3,000 people in the development and production of radars and defence electronics systems. A large proportion of the employees are engineers and technicians, and around 250 apprentices and dual students are currently undergoing training.
