OCCAR commissions HENSOLDT to continue In-Service Support for the COBRA artillery radar until the end of 2028

The International armament organisation, Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation (OCCAR), has commissioned HENSOLDT to provide In-Service Support (ISS) for the artillery detection radar COunter Battery RAdar (COBRA) for a further three years.

COBRA In-Service Support – HENSOLDT remains OCCAR´s trusted partner

With this new ISS contract, the result of a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Germany and France, OCCAR and the Participating States reaffirm their confidence in HENSOLDT as the strategic industrial partner to support the COBRA systems for the next 3 years and even beyond until the end of its service life.

As the System Design Authority, HENSOLDT will continue to be responsible for the following core services: configuration management, technical incident management, technical support, on-site maintenance, logistical documentation, IT security management, quality assurance and safety, with a particular focus on obsolescence management and remediation. HENSOLDT is thus making important contributions to ensuring system availability until 2035 and beyond.

COBRA is still the world's most powerful weapon location radar. Its main task is the precise detection of enemy artillery, rockets and mortars. It is characterised in particular by a long reconnaissance range, high resistance to electronic countermeasures and full mobility.
For over 12 years, HENSOLDT, with its wholly-owned subsidiary ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH as the main contractor and system design authority, has been responsible for ISS and the further development of the COBRA systems.

The OCCAR managed - COBRA Programme is impressive proof of Germany and France’s pioneering commitment to increased European cooperation in the areas of security and defence as the basis for the security, sovereignty and integrity of a united Europe.
