HENSOLDT and Project Q join forces to advance software-centred defence and sensor integration

HENSOLDT and Project Q have signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Eurosatory in Paris. The agreement lays the foundation for collaboration in the fields of sensor integration, edge computing and multi-domain operations.

HENSOLDT and Project Q join forces to advance software-centred defence and sensor integration

With HYDRIS, Project Q has developed an open-core integration and orchestration solution, thereby enabling the seamless integration of commercially available (COTS) technologies, data sources and existing legacy systems into a shared operational environment. Through open standards, AI-supported data processing, edge computing and distributed operations, HYDRIS creates a vendor-neutral foundation for resilient and technologically sovereign operations. Service personnel are empowered to create their own operational environment. In addition, Project Q develops and produces cost-effective ‘Mission Kits’ that are ready for immediate deployment according to the ‘Plug and Fight’ principle, consisting of a network of seismic-acoustic ground sensors for the detection of vehicles, drones and personnel.

Under the MoU, the parties aim to explore opportunities to extend HENSOLDT’s software-centric integration approach with Project Q’s HYDRIS layer and to strengthen the overarching multi-domain architecture. In parallel, joint development in the field of acoustic and seismic sensors is planned – for example, for the detection of drones and vehicles.

HENSOLDT brings to the partnership its existing sensor technology, sensor-proximate AI and edge technologies, as well as MDOcore as an integration platform. Project Q complements this with HYDRIS, its Q-Box for edge and mesh applications, and its own acoustic and seismic sensor solutions. Areas of application include both the defence sector and civil security, including the protection of properties and critical infrastructure.

This would allow us to expand our portfolio with cost-effective sensors available in high volumes."
