Sensor solutions provider HENSOLDT will be sponsoring VfB Friedrichshafen's school project ‘VOLLEYBALL macht SCHULE’ (VOLLEYBALL goes to SCHOOL). The company, which also has a site in Immenstaad on Lake Constance, is supporting the project with around 10,000 euros and other contributions in kind. This will support the sporting and social education of primary school children in the Lake Constance region.

‘VOLLEYBALL macht SCHULE’ is a project run by VfB Friedrichshafen that gets primary school children moving and introduces them to volleyball in a playful way. Coaches from the club visit schools, conduct training sessions and teach values such as fairness, team spirit and mutual respect. The project culminates in a joint tournament where the children can apply what they have learned.

Thanks to HENSOLDT's support, the project is well positioned for the future in the region. This means that even more children will benefit from qualified training sessions and low-threshold access to sport.

‘As a company with deep roots in the region, we want to inspire young people to take an interest in technology, teamwork and joint action – values that connect sport and technology in equal measure,’ says Steffen Kolditz, site manager at HENSOLDT in Immenstaad. ‘Our involvement in “VOLLEYBALL macht SCHULE” is a great opportunity for us to promote education, exercise and cohesion in the local community.’

‘The cooperation with HENSOLDT enables us to further expand the project and consolidate our work in schools,’ says Thilo Späth-Westerholt, Managing Director of VfB Friedrichshafen. ‘Our goal is to get as many children as possible to enjoy exercise while at the same time laying the foundations for our professional division.’ Most recently, two former project children, Daniel Habermaas and Lucas Huckle, made it into the professional squad of the Häfler volleyball team.
