Around 250 employees at the Ulm site engage interactively with diverse perspectives, collaboration and unconscious bias

Diversity is a key component of a sustainable corporate culture. To convey diversity not just in theory but to bring it to life, HENSOLDT organised the DiversityParcours at its Ulm site in July. Around 250 employees took the opportunity to explore different facets of diversity, either as part of team tours or individually.

HENSOLDT brings diversity to life with the DiversityParcours

The DiversityParcours was developed by the Institute for Diversity Management and is an interactive travelling exhibition that presents the topic of diversity in a vivid way across various stations. The focus is not on traditional knowledge transfer, but on personal experiences, reflection and exchange. Participants are given the opportunity to question their own thought patterns, discover new perspectives and experience the importance of diversity for collaboration in everyday working life.

“Diversity is crucial, particularly in a technology- and security-driven environment such as ours: different perspectives lead to better decisions, greater innovation and more robust collaboration in complex situations,” says Inka Tews, Chief Human Resources Officer at HENSOLDT. “The DiversityParcours creates a space in which our employees can not only understand diversity in theory but also experience it in practice.”

Hiltrud Werner, a member of HENSOLDT’s Supervisory Board, also emphasises the importance of diverse perspectives for companies: “Diversity in teams and management bodies is a key factor for sustainable success. Different experiences and viewpoints help us to make better decisions and develop new solutions.”

Alongside Inka Tews and Hiltrud Werner, executives from the various business divisions also share insights into their experiences with the Parcours. Dietmar Thelen, Head of Multi-Domain Solutions, and Peter Schlote, Head of Radar & EW, particularly emphasise the importance of diverse perspectives for innovation and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.

“The DiversityParcours has impressively demonstrated how important it is not only to promote diversity, but also to actively experience it and make it truly tangible,” said Tews.

The visit to the DiversityParcours in Ulm is a first step on the shared journey towards an open and appreciative corporate culture. This autumn, HENSOLDT will launch the Digital DiversityParcours, thereby giving further employees at various locations the opportunity to engage with the topic of diversity.

“Our aim is to make diversity even more visible and tangible in our day-to-day working lives. The digital diversity trail offers an additional opportunity to engage staff across different sites, encourage a change of perspective and sustain the dialogue on diversity in the long term,” explains Christine Stadler, Culture & DEI.
