Radar System Simulator for Integration (RSI)

Simsphere Radar - Incremental system development and integration

Capabilities

  • The Radar System Simulator for Integration (RSI) supports model-based incremental development from Model SW in-the-Loop, Tactical SW in-the-Loop (re-hosted operational SW) to Tactical HW in-the-Loop.
  • The RSI is an adequate replica of the real radar and IFF interrogator systems with respect to the behaviour at its operational digital interfaces.
  • The RSI can be operated in the superior system as operational SW in-the-Loop under normal load.
  • Interaction in a distributed system / scenario with other DIS/HLA-capable simulators via a Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) or High Level Architecture (HLA) network.

Description

HENSOLDT Simsphere Radar System Simulator (RSI) is designed to support the integration of the radar system into the superior system (e.g. Combat Management System (CMS)) for combat ships or Command and Control (C2) for Ground Based Air Defense (GBAD Systems), partially prior to the availability of the original system.

As an integral part of the development process, the RSI uses operational radar SW components (e.g. via re-hosting MATHLAB for the radar data processing chain) and forms the link for later validation / verification of the real radar system.

For a comprehensive integration of radar / superior system (CMS / GBADS), user-defined scenarios can be created, adapted / varied and executed by customer’s integration team.

Features

  • Provision of a real-time capable software system simulation to enable functional increments of the system and its components.
  • Provision of real-time stimulation of the operational hardware of the system with the aim of incremental integration and testing of the system and its components, as well as to support the verification process.
  • Interaction in a distributed system / scenario with other DIS/HLA-enabled simulators. The international standard ISO definitions as well as SuTBw and TAUES compatibility (simulation and test beds of the Bundeswehr) are adhered to.

Main Benefits

The simulated radar systems enable an earlier, incremental integration in the superior system. Often live testing is limited e.g. load testing of radar tracks of A/Cs and missiles, active radar in a shipyard and difficult to repeat.

Integrated, incremental development and integration is key to prevent re-design in late stages and to ensure performing systems. Mean to develop, maintain and to refine complex, distributed systems.

The RSI provide essential results to train operators of CMS and C2 Systems in customer specific scenarios w.r.t. to dedicated procedures, full mission and on-board.
