HENSOLDT promotes women in management positions

Network "Initiative Chefsache" improves equal career opportunities for women and men in the company

At the Chefkon2019 with a focus on "Dual Career", HENSOLDT was represented by Marion Ortmeier (HR), Monika Reindl (CEO Assistant) and Michael Schlüppmann (HR).

Taufkirchen, 05 June 2019 – HENSOLDT, the leading independent sensor solutions house, participates in the "Chefsache" initiative, a network of executives from business, science, the public sector and the media to promote a balanced relationship between women and men in management positions. It was founded in 2015 under the patronage of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

"We want more diversity in thinking and acting at HENSOLDT - this promotes the creativity, innovative spirit and satisfaction of our employees. We will therefore significantly increase the proportion of female executives in our company," says HENSOLDT CEO Thomas Müller.

Especially women in partnerships with children are often putting their careers on hold as they are the primary caretaker in the family. According to the German Federal Statistical Office, 69 percent of working mothers and only six percent of working fathers with underage children worked part-time in Germany in 2017.

The possibility of both partners having a career at the same time is often regarded as impossible because of the time pressure. This creates a clear professional and financial disadvantage for women, as part-time work is still regarded as an obstacle to promotion and career advancement.

This is where HENSOLDT will start as an employer. By promoting equal career opportunities and a dual-career concept, the company wants to support its employees. HENSOLDT is building on existing approaches with flexible working time models and supplementing them with innovative career opportunities and a corporate culture that promotes equal career opportunities.
